There are a few things that I will need to inform you of before you begin reading my blog. The two main groups in conflict in Northern Ireland are Catholics and Protestants. Protestants are the majority in Northern Ireland but the minority on the island itself.
Additionally when I refer to nationalists, I mean Catholics because they usually identify this way. Nationalist are those who believe in Northern Ireland becoming apart of the Republic of Ireland. When I refer to unionists, I mean those who identify as Protestants. Unionists are those who believe in staying a part of the United Kingdom.
